The World is the Limit: Our Bid List

We know some of you are enjoying living vicariously through our current experiences.  So in order to prevent any outcry over us not sharing the bid list, the 76 posts are listed below.  Note that some have multiple openings and some are reserved for Foreign Service employed couples, i.e. tandems.

While we have to bid High, Medium or Low on every single one of these posts, there are other limits and qualifications that go along with them, particularly the start date (i.e. July or November) and the language proficiency needed (i.e. professional proficiency in Russian or Urdu).

We have already narrowed the list considerably since we don’t want to go to post until after the baby is born, which is July 20th.  That requirement knocks out approximately 60% of the posts.

We’ll keep you updated as we narrow our posts and rank them.  Until then, break out your globe and enjoy!

Living vicariously is not quite the right term as I can assure you that I have my own very full life to lead. Jealousy, envy, etc., might be closer to my feelings about the whole thing. I will say that I am happy to have you two go through the narrowing-down process instead of me and that I may not be so jealous or envious if you end up in Matamoros. (Just you getting to be in a place right now that has a winter with sweaters and coats is enought to get the jealousy thing going.)

Thanks for keeping us so well informed!! We love you guys!

  3. Wow, what a task! I envy the excitement but not the job of choosing where you’d want to live. What are you finding are some of the top criteria you are using to order your preferences? Lol, what if you ended up in Tijuana… you’d actually be CLOSER to Dan and Margo than you were before. Thinking of you!

  5. “The World is the Limit: Our Bid List”… Interesting that you didnt use “the world is our oyster”… I always thought that phrase was a little weird. I mean, aren’t oysters cold, slimy, and dirty? If the world is your oyster, and you are going INTO the world… how is that an appealing thing?

  7. Did you sneeze on your screen? Are these real places or are you making them up? Get a globe? I better start with an encyclopedia. “Abidjan Ashgabat Astana”, really?

I think you are just being funny. Come one, where are the REAL places?
